Last month I ordered the Rocket French course because I've always had a desire to learn French. I decided to write a review of the product to help others who may be interested in learning French as a second language.

Rocket French is basically a practical, interactive course that teaches you how to speak French fluently. You can either download the complete course online or you can have the complete product shipped to your home.

I decided to get this course instead of attending a class or paying a tutor, because just thinking about the hourly price of $25-50 dollars an hour to pay a tutor to teach you how to learn French or the price of the classes makes me cringe. Plus the course is fully interactive and even lets you log into a members-only forum where you can get answers to any questions quickly about learning French.

Here's what I received with my Rocket French course:

Component#1 There are 31 tracks in the Rocket French Interactive Audio Course with each being an average of 20 minutes in length. This comes to 11 hours of audio that you can replay over and over again until you're comfortable with it. These audio tracks were great because I could play them in my car on the way to work. 30 minutes a day of listening to these audio tracks have really helped me get the basics of speaking French down throughout the month.

Component#2 This contained 45 illustrated grammar lessons designed to take you from beginner to advanced level in your French speaking. The grammar lessons include over 400 pages of grammar, over 3,000 audio tracks and 788 exercises and activities.

The grammar lessons are the core of the course and I found them to be easy to understand. For me it was better than listening to a teacher because I could stop and listen to the audio tracks again if I didn't understand them fully, whereas with a teacher if you don't understand something they will have to explain it to you all over again. How many times do you think a teacher is going to want to explain the same thing to you until they become overly frustrated?

Component#3 This part contained a word building game called MegaVocab. This game was helpful to me, because first of all I learn quickly when I'm enjoying learning something by playing a game. The game contains over 1000 words and 20 various topics. This game was helpful because I was able to learn a ton of French words when playing the game. The thing about learning for me, is that I don't learn well if I have someone pressure me into it. Using a game really helps the learning experience stay enjoyable.

Component#4 This package contained another game, but this game helps you recognize the SOUND of the different French Words. That is one of the hardest things about learning another language is to be able to recognize the sounds of different words. This game made learning the sounds an enjoyable experience for me. When you're having fun doing something and don't treat it as work, it makes the learning process much quicker.

Component#5 In this part of the course there is another game called the MegaVerbs software game. This game is specifically designed for students and people with an intermediate to advanced level of French. Since I feel I have some of the basics down with speaking French I'll be using this game soon to work on reaching the advanced level.

Component#6 This last part of the course is one of the most valuable in my opinion. This part is a Members only "Learn French" forum where a team of French teachers, native speakers and other people like you interact and answer questions. Watch out though this forum can be addicting. I've learned a lot just by interacting with the teachers and native speakers in the forum.

My goal is to be able to speak French well in 12 months, and so far I've had a great time learning the language and think I'm catching on quickly. I'm looking forward to taking a trip to France once I've got the language down and be able to interact with people. It will be a fun time to say the least!
